Description

Pileus: applanate becoming centrally depressed; 10- 25 mm diameter; dry; innately fibrillose to tomentose; amethyst blue at first becoming pale blue grey; margin striate.

Stipe: cylindrical; 25 - 45 × 2 - 2.5 mm; dry; minutely fibrillose; white becoming brown.

Gills: adnate to subdecurrent; crowded, 6 - 12 reaching stipe; whitish to pale pink, turning pinkish brown with age.

Flesh: white.

Smell: unpleasant.

Spore print: pink.

Spores: angular, 6 - 7 angled; 10 - 12 × 6.5 - 8 µm; smooth.  

Notes: this fungus is recognised by its dark blue to blue grey fibrillose cap and its unpleasant smell.
