Description

Cap: perennial bracket, broadly attached to substrate; 50 - 200 mm diameter; surface undulate (wave like) to almost smooth; resinous, lacquered; reddish brown, copper, often zoned, margin more or less acute.

Stipe: lateral or absent.

Pores: white to cream; round; 2 - 3 per mm; pore surface usually flat and horizontal to the ground.

Flesh: hard, corky; pale brown, paler in tubes.

Smell: none.

Spore print: reddish brown.

Notes: This fungus is recognized by its laccate, concentrically ridged, red brown fruiting body with a laterally attached red brown stipe and white pores.
