Dracophyllum alticola is an endemic shrub of New Caledonia, known from Mont Humbolt and the Kouakoué massif in the southern part of Grande Terre. D. alticola occurs in shrubland on ultramafic rocks at an altitudinal range of 800-1,500 m asl. This species does not seem globally threatened, and so, despite having a relatively restricted range, this species is tentatively considered to be Least Concern (LC).

Dracophyllum alticola is an endemic shrub, known from Mont Humbolt and Kouakoué massif in the southern part of Grande Terre.
Population
The population size is unknown but the species is locally common in Mont Humboldt (pers. comm. Vandrot H.)
Habitat
Dracophyllum alticola occurs in shrubland on ultramafic rocks at an altitudinal range of 800-1,500 m asl.
Threats
Dracophyllum alticola species does not seem directly threatened because of its altitudinal habitat.
Conservation
Unprotected by legislation in New Caledonia, Dracophyllum alticola is found in two protected areas: Massif du Kouakoué and Mont Humboldt.
