Greslania rivularis is an endemic species from New Caledonia, where it is restricted to the south of the Grande Terre, from Yaté-Mont-Dore area to Boulouparis-Thio area. It occurs along river banks mainly in shrubland, forest edges on ultramafic substrate up to 1,100 m asl. The main threats are grazing by rusa deer (Rusa timorensis), bushfire and mining activities. However this species is very common and it does not seem to be threatened. Its extent of occurrence (EOO) and area of occupancy (AOO) are estimated at 2,428 and 156 km², respectively. Therefore, Greslania rivularis is listed as Least Concern (LC).

Population size is unknown, but field observations indicate that this species is very common.
Habitat

Conservation
Greslania rivularis is not protected by legislation in New Caledonia and it does not occur in any protected area.
