Colubrina asiatica var. asiatica is an indigenous shrub widely distributed accross the main island (Grande Terre) and the islets near by. It is also present at Belep islands, Surprise island, Chesterfeild island and Loyalty Islands (Ouvéa). This sub species is also present in East Africa, Madagascar to south Asia, Australia and Pacific islands (Vanuatu, Fidji, Samoa, ...). This sub species occurs in dry forest, mangrove and degraded coastal areas where it is very common. This subspecies does not appear to be significantly threatened at the moment. Therefore Colubrina asiatica var. asiatica is assessed as Least Concern (LC).

Population
It is very common in New Caledonia.
Habitat
It occurs in dry forest, mangrove and degraded coastal areas where it is very common.
Threats
This subspecies does not appear to be significantly threatened at the moment. Though some subpopulations may be impacted by bushfires.
Conservation
This autochtonous subspecies is not protected by legislation in New Caledonia and it does occur in one protected area: Ouen Toro.
