Least Concern (LC) , assessed in 22/03/2023Tarenna truncatocalyx var. truncatocalyx is an endemic shrub from New Caledonia widely distributed across Grande Terre as well as the Loyalty islands (Lifou, Maré and Ouvéa islands) and Ile des Pins. This variety occurs in forest and scrubland on various substrates up to 1,200 m asl. This variety does not seem to be threatened. With an extent of occurrence (EOO) equal to 47,924 km² and an area of occupancy (AOO) of 160 km², Tarenna truncatocalyx var. truncatocalyx is assessed as Least Concern (LC).
Geographical area
Tarenna truncatocalyx var. truncatocalyx is endemic to New Caledonia where it is widely distributed across Grande Terre as well as the Loyalty islands (Lifou, Maré and Ouvéa islands) and Ile des Pins.
Population
Population size is unknown, but field observations indicate that this species is common.
Habitat
This variety occurs in forest and scrubland on various substrates up to 1,200 m asl.
Threats
This variety does not seem to be threatened.
Conservation
Tarenna truncatocalyx var. truncatocalyx is unprotected by legislation in New Caledonia but it occurs in one protected area: Mont Panié.
