in Southern Province , in Northern ProvinceAcropogon jaffrei is an endemic small tree of the west coast of Grande Terre in New Caledonia. This species is known from only two populations (Koniambo, Boulinda). It is found in sclerophyl and humid forest on ultramafic substrate at an altitude of 30-300 m asl. Its area of occupancy (AOO) and its extent of occurrence (EOO) are estimated respectively to be 60 and 561 km² while the number of locations is 3. The threats to A. jaffrei are linked to habitat degradation due to bushfires and mining activities related to Koniambo and Boulinda mining projects. Using criteria B, A. jaffrei does qualify for Endangered (EN) B1ab(iii)+2ab(iii).

Habitat
This species is found in sclerophyl and humid forest on ultramafic substrate at an altitude of 30-300 m asl.
Threats
The threats to A. jaffrei are posed by habitat degradation due to bushfires and mining activities related to Koniambo and Boulinda mining projects (road openings especially). Uncontrolled fires sweep across lowlands of New Caledonia each year, especially during the dry season (an average of 20,000 ha of land is burnt each year, with dramatic peaks of 70,000 ha).
Conservation
Protected species by legislation in Province Nord, A. jaffrei does not occur in a protected area. it is recommanded to be vigilant on the forest impacted by the mining activities on the Koniambo massif. This species is followed by KNS (Koniambo Nickel SAS).
