Polyscias mackeei is an endemic tree/small tree of New Caledonia restricted to the southern part of Grande Terre. It is found in dense humid forest or shrubland on ultramafic substrate at low altitude. The main threats impacting this species come from habitat degradation caused by bushfires and mining activities as well as logging. Its area of occupancy (AOO) and extent of occurrence (EOO) being respectively estimated to 48 and 476 km², Polyscias mackeei is considered Vulnerable (VU) using criteria B1ab(iii,v)+2ab(iii,v) with an estimation of 6 locations and a decline of habitat quality and number of mature individuals.

Polyscias mackeei is an endemic tree/small tree of New Caledonia restricted to the southern part of Grande Terre.
Population
This species is largely distributed in southern Grande-Terre with scatterred individuals.
Habitat
It is found in dense humid forest or shrubland on ultramafic substrate at low altitude (5-375 m asl).
Threats
The main threats impacting this species come from habitat fragmentation in the "Grand Sud" and degradation caused by bu.shfires and mining activities (Vale NC) as well as logging around Yaté
Conservation
Unprotected by legislation, this species is found in protected areas : Forêt cachée, Pic du grand Kaori, Barrage de Yaté, Forêt Nord
