Pycnandra filipes subspecies filipes is an endemic shrub of New Caledonia largely distributed across Grande Terre from Goro to Poum. It is essentially found in humid forest on ultramafic substrate at an altitudinal range 10-800 m asl. This species is largely distributed and does not seem directly threatened. Pycnandra filipes subspecies filipes is considered Least Concern (LC).

It is known from 18-20 subpopulations.

Pycnandra filipes subspecies filipes is found in shrubland on ultramafic substrate at an altitudinal range 10-800 m asl.
Threats
This species does not seem globally threatened. Some subpopulations may be threatened by mining activities: Kopeto (SLN), Goro (VALE), Tiebaghi (SLN), Boualoudjelima (SLN).
Conservation
Pycnandra filipes subsp. filipes, is protected by legislation in Province Nord and is found in one protected area : Mont Humboldt.
