Red List Status -

Endangered (EN) , assessed in 24/10/2019

Kermadecia brinoniae is an endemic big tree from New Caledonia, growing up to 20 m high and restricted to the south of the main island (Grande Terre). This species is known from 5 subpopulations: Dalmates, Forêt « Démazures », La Thy, Pente au Nord de la Conception and Koghis. This species occurs in dense humid forest on ultramafic substrate at an altitude range of 100 and 400 m asl. This species is threatened by bushfires and indirectly hunting pressure on its putative dispersers (flying foxes and New Caledonian Imperial Pigeons) (Hopkin & Pillon 2019). Its Area of Occupancy (AOO) and Extent of Occurrence (EOO) are respectively estimated to be 32 and 55 km² with a number of location equal to five. Therefore Kermadecia brinoniae is considered Endangered (EN) B1ab(iii,v)+2ab(iii,v) with a decline of the habitat quality and number of mature individuals
