Dendrobium veillonii is an endemic lithophyte orchid of New Caledonia restricted to the north west of Grande Terre. It is known from two subpopulations: Tiébaghi and Montagne Poum. The species occurs in forest egdes and humid forest's slopes on ultramafic substrates at an altitude range of 200 and 365 m asl. The main threats are the impact bushfires and mining activties. Its area of occurrence (EOO) and area of occupancy (AOO) are estimated to be 27 and 16 km² while the number of locations is estimated to be two. Therefore, Dendrobium veillonii is assessed as Endangered (EN) B1ab(i,ii,iii,v)+2ab(i,ii,iii,v) with an estimated decline of the concerned criteria.
Geographical area
Dendrobium veillonii is endemic to New Caledonia where it is restricted to the north west of Grande Terre. It is known from two subpopulations : Tiébaghi and Montagne Poum.

Conservation
Dendrobium veillonii is protected by legislation in Province Nord and it does not occur in any protected area. It is recommended to inform the DSCGR (emergency services), responsible for the coordination of the firefighting effort, on the presence of the species in the concerned areas. And finally this species would benefit from ex situ and in situ emergency conservation actions.
