Leichhardtia dognyensis is an endemic liana from New Caledonia. This species is known from six subpopulations: Ouipoin, Plateau de Dogny, Thoven, Diahoué, Ouaté and Nato. This species occurs in dense humid forests on volcano-sedimentary substrates at an altitude range of 200 and 800 m asl. This species is not directly consummed by Rusa deer (Rusa timorensis) probably due to its toxicity. However there is a high impact of Rusa deer that contribute to the decline of its habitat quality. Its number of location is estimated to be at least 6 and its Area of Occupancy and Extent of Occurrence are 28 and 2,636 km², respectively. Therefore, Leichhardtia dognyensis is listed as Vulnerable (VU) B1ab(iii)+2ab(iii).
