Coelospermum nomac is an endemic liana of New Caledonia restricted in the north west of Grande Terre. It is known from three subpopulations : Poum, Nomatch and Tiebaghi. It occurs in scrubbland and in thalweg slope forest up to 450 m asl. It occurs on volcano-sedimentary substrate and also on ultramafic substrate. The main identified threats are linked to habitat damage by uncontrolled bushfires and by mining activities at Tiebaghi massif. Its extent of occurrence (EOO) and area of occupancy (AOO) are 16 and 141 km², respectively, while the number of locations is estimated to be three. Therefore, Coelospermum nomac is assessed as Endangered (EN) B1ab(i,ii,iii,v)+2ab(i,ii,iii,v), with an estimated continuing decline of the concerned sub-criteria.

Coelospermum nomac is endemic to New Caledonia where it is restricted in the north west of Grande Terre. It is known from three subpopulations : Poum, Nomatch and Tiebaghi.

The population size is not known.

Conservation

Coelospermum nomac is not protected by legislation in New Caledonia and it does not occur in any protected area. It is recommended to inform the DSCGR (emergency services) on the presence of the species in the concerned areas. It is recommended to search areas surrounding of the known subpopulations in the north west of Grande Terre such as Tiebaghi, Golone and between Néouhé et Poum.
