T. fasciola var. mutina is an autochthonous orchid of New Caledonia. It is known only from two localities in the northern part of Grande Terre (main island) : Ténem and Balabio. T. fasciola var. mutina is found in wooded ravine on schist soil at an altitudinal range 10-100 m asl. This species can be potentially threatened by invasive species (Rusa deer and feral pigs) and its area of occupancy (AOO) and area of occurrence (EOO) are respectively equal to 12 and 53 km². Therefore T. fasciola var. mutina is considered Near Threatened (NT).

T. fasciola var. mutina is an autochthonous orchid of New Caledonia and is known only from two locations in the northern part of Grande Terre (main island) : Ténem and Balabio.

Population


Population size is unknown but field observations reported a population in Ténem smaller than in Balabio.

Habitat


T. fasciola var. mutina was found in wooded ravine on schist soil at an altitudinal range 10-100 m asl.

Threats


T. fasciola var. mutina does seem actually threatened but it can be potentially impacted by invasive species (Rusa deer and feral pigs).

Conservation


T. fasciola var. mutina is protected by legislation in Province Sud and in Province Nord but does not occur in any protected area. In order to improve our knowledge on T. fasciola var. mutina, prospections have to be rekindled in Téném area.
