Description

Description

Pileus: broadly convex becoming centrally depressed; 40 -50 mm diameter; glabrous, grey buff; velar remnants absent; margin strongly sulcate.

Stipe: cylindrical; 80 – 90  × 5 - 6 mm; glabrous; white; ring absent; volva saccate; base swollen in to an elongated bulb.

Gills: adnate; crowded, white; lamellulae absent.

Spore print: white.

Spores: subglobose; 8 - 10 µm; amyloid.

Notes: a medium sized grey buff Amanita, with a cylindrical stipe and a saccate volva. In subgenus Amanitopsis. Somewhat like A. pekeiodes in New Zealand.

Support

Soil, in mixed forest, probably mycorrhizal with Melaleuca quinquenervia and other trees.
