Description

Description

Pileus: convex with a more or less flattened top; 25 – 30 mm diameter; with purple brown patch at centre and purple brown fibrillose squamulose elsewhere.

Stipe: cylindrical with a slightly bulbous base; 25 – 40 × 5 – 7; glabrous, white; broad white ring 60 – 70 % up stipe, fibrillose above.

Gills: free; crowded; pale grey at first becoming greyish brown.

Spore print: pinkish brown.

Spores: ellipsoid; 5.6 ± 0.3 × 3.4 ± 0.3, Q = 1.67 ± 0.16, thick walled; no germ pore.

Notes: A small Agaricus with purple brown squamules and a distinctive ring. It differs slightly from the Northern Hemisphere collections but appears to be closely related.
